Visits

All Years

Llys Nini is proud to work with multiple community groups on site, whether to learn about animal care and welfare or to work outdoors in nature. Here are some of our visits, complete with the fruits of their labours!

A Year in Llys Nini

Photo Diary of a Wilderness, in conjuction with ASDES

2016 has seen the start of a new site-wide project - the creation of a year-long photo diary, shot by young people with Autistc Spectrum Disorders, or ASD. Ysgol y Wern

Ysgol y Wern

A school visit, in English and Welsh!

In April, we were visited by pupils from Blwyddyn 1 in Ysgol y Wern, Ystylafera. The children were split into 3 groups, with each throughout the day being taught about animal care, getting to visit the animals, and spending some time down in the woods being rangers for the day, helping Conservation Manager Elanor to take notes on the plants and animals they saw.

At the end of the visit, the children got to explore our playground. Happy smiles all round!

Geocaching

Penllergaer 5th Cwm Newydd Scout Group

Geocaching!

The end of September saw the Penllergaer Scout Group come to Llys Nini for a spot of after-hours geocaching! The children found every cache after a bit of searching, and a good time was had by all.

Boardwalk Opening

The Formal Boardwalk Opening

After a few months of hard work, we got to formally open our new accessible boardwalk into the ancient wood - with help from Penllergaer Primary School pupils!

Postcards from Qatar

The overseas visit

We were lucky enough to be chosen by a group of Qatari students looking for an organisation to use in creating a sustainable development model. They were absolutely fantastic, and loved our woodlands!

The Schools of 2018

All visits by local primary schools in 2018

2018 has seen a huge uptick in the number of school groups coming to visit us and explore the woodlands; so much so that it's not feasible to list them all individually! So this album contains photos from the many visits.
